Our Doctor and Nurse Practitioner

Jeoffrey K. Wolens, MD

After moving to Houston in 1997, I worked for a solo practice physcian in North Houston before joining TCPA in 1998. I then worked in several offices for TCPA until 2006. During part of this time, I was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor from 2001-2005 when I was the Pediatrician at Shriner's Hospital for Children- Houston.

I started V.I.P. Pediatrics as I wanted to provide top-quality pediatric care without the large corporate structure that seems to limit creativity and the personal touch. Our facility is constructed to be a "kid" friendly environment with an emphasis in helping entertain and distract children of all ages. We love hearing how children just want to stop by our office to play!

Another priority for me was ready access to the doctor and staff. If your child is sick and you want to see the doctor- you are seen the same day. If you just want to ask the doctor a question- your call is returned the same day. We treat all our patients like they are VIPs.

I believe in teaching parents and children about medicine and how to manage medical issues in children. During my academic career, I enjoyed teaching future doctors about Pediatrics. Now, I want to teach families about the medical needs of their children. I teach parents how to manage most common childhood issues and when a trip to the doctor's office is warranted.

I am also a strong advocate for breastfeeding infants. I have seen benefits of breastfeeding for any length of time, and I think that a goal of 6 breastfeeding for 6 months
is a realistic goal for most mothers. The AAP recommends breastfeeding for at least 1 year, and I applaud all moms who continue breastfeeding for this length of time or more.

In today's world, a pediatrician is a member of a team whose goal is to raise a healthy and happy child.

Dee Davis, CPNP, MSN

Dee Joined V.I.P. Pediatrics in the fall of 2009 after returning to south Texas from a year in West Texas. Dee previously worked for Texas Children's Hospital Emergency Room as a nurse practitioner for over 10 years and has years of experience working in private pediatricians offices.

As a certified Nurse Practitioner, Dee provides the same level of care as our physician and sees patients independently from Dr. Wolens, although she is supervised by him. She can prescribe medications, perform well and ill exams and has expertise in trauma, lacerations, treatment of abscesses, and other emergency care problems. Dee also has expert care in taking care of her own son and enjoys helping new parents with nursing and dealing with the unexpected issues of motherhood.
